We had a great day today with 2 youngsters out on Loch Insh canoeing in the morning and biking in the afternoon. It was their first time in a canoe and they paddled tandem until it got too windy, then we rafted and went for a journey around the Loch and a little way up the River Spey. As the wind was in the perfect direction for going back we put the sail up and just relaxed and let the wind do the work. Saw Osprey, Red throated diver amongst others. In the afternoon we did a superb bike circuit on tracks and single track through forest and along the River Feshie. The weather was perfect too.

Dalnashallag Bothy
Another one of our favourite short walks is Strath an Eilich to Dalnashallag Bothy. This is where Glen Banchor ends too. It is always a really quiet place, a great place to chill without any man made noise. There are lots of hills around, mostly pathless and we have never met anyone else when on these hills. On Sunday, we came back over Binnein Mor which has excellent views of the Monadliath, Creag Meagaidh, Geal Charn and over the Grey Corries to Ben Nevis.

Creag Beag Kingussie
There are lots of short walks around us that we often do when we only have a few hours to spare and this is one of them. It can be climbed easily from the Kingussie Golf course carpark, linking two paths to make a good circuit or the longer way which we like. Walking from Newtonmore across a moorland which is now coming alive with birds such as Lapwing, Curlew, Sky Lark, Meadow Pipit and Oystercatcher. There are often deer around too. The walk takes us along the south shore of Loch Gynack to meet a path up Creag Beag. From the summit you could take another path down to Kingussie and then walk back along the Cycle way but we like to take to the heathery slopes which eventually take us back to our starting point in Newtonmore.

Indoor Climbing Glenmore Lodge
We had a really nice time yesterday at Glenmore Lodge with local children and dads on the Indoor Wall. Some trying it for the first time! Always difficult to break off to take photos but here are a few smiley faces!

Monday and Tuesday were full on days for us with enthusiastic kids loaded with energy and keen to do stuff! They had fun doing Archery in Glenmore Forest before map-reading through the forest to Glenmore Lodge to find some Treasure. Lunch followed then it was time for Indoor climbing. We all had a great time and all were tired bunnies at the end of each day.
