Duntelchaig

On Wednesday we were at Duntelchaig having fun Weaselling and Abseiling whilst Donald and Sylvia were Canoeing and Gordon and Colin getting on with Bushcraft. the group were really up for everything and a good laugh too. the weather was superb so altogether a brilliant day.

On Friday we met up with Nabeel and Elizabeth at Glenmore Lodge for a session on the wall. Nabeel is really into the climbing, we could do with getting him on the real stuff.

Ben Nevis

Working for Maximum Adventure this weekend with a great group of folk. On Saturday we worked on basic skills in the snow on Aonach Mor where ice axe arresting proved very popular! Then on Sunday we headed up Ben Nevis where we found the weather to be glorious and excellent snow from the Red burn so the group were able to do their step kicking and cramponning for real. It was a superb day for us all with lots of chat and laughter.

On Thursday we had a superb walk in really remote and wild country out to Beinn Leoid and pulling in 2 Grahams on the way back. the weather was kind and the views fantastic, a really good winter day on Scottish hills.

North West

On Friday we went north to climb Ben Stack, then on Saturday the Corbetts of Cranstackie and Beinn Spionnaidh. It was cold and windy, mostly misty and very icy rocks. Lovely hills though and typical of the area ie pathless, wet, grassy and boggy to the cols where rocks and short grass lead to the summits. Would have been good to get the views! It was raining hard on Sunday so we walked to Sandwood Bay, having not visited it for years.

More Costa Blanca photos

Costa Blanca

Nov/Dec is a good time to go to the Costa Blanca as it is usually warm enough for climbing but not too hot. We found this time it was unusually chilly with a persistent cold wind and even snow on the higher peaks but we still had a wonderful time. Not as much climbing as we had planned but lots more mountain walking only having one day off during our 21 day stay. The Casa we had rented was in a wonderful location about 30mins inland from Calpe and great for all the hills we planned to climb. All the mountains in the photos are ones we have climbed, walked or scrambled and there are still many more to visit. The climbing venues offer a variety of bolted and trad climbing at all grades, many making the perfect outdoor climbing wall!

Kilravock Castle and Ben Nevis

We spent from 20th November to 11th December walking and climbing in Spain, photos to follow. On the 13th December we were at Kilravock Castle with Graeme Livingston and co having some fun Team Challenges and Archery. Over this last weekend we were working for Maximum Adventure with a group who wanted to climb Ben Nevis in winter conditions. They were a lovely bunch of folk and we had a lot of fun with them as well as helping them to achieve their goal.
