We love picking out different routes to hills and this was a great one. Not having been on this hill for at least 20 years it was time we revisited it. We walked up the Corrieyairack track from Melgarve to it's highpoint then descended by Coire na Ceire to the river Tarff, crossed this and took to the steep grassy slopes to point 768 and on to Carn a'Chuillin. Lots of little lochans and pathless terrain which we always enjoy. Back to the river and up the steep grassy slopes of Min Choire to a broad col and then lovely easy walking over Corrieyairack hill and back down the track. A really enjoyable day!

Hills by different routes
We love finding new routes up hills, especially routes we know it is unlikely we will come across anyone else. Even better when we can bike from home as we can for Meall Chuaich and Creag Ruadh. From our garden we look towards the coire of Geal Charn (the one next to Creag Pitridh) and have often thought of finding the old path that goes up into the coire from Lochan nan H-earba and onto the col between its main summit and that of Sron Garbh. These old paths have always interested us as they were obviously really important at one time. The path went straight through the snow patches and we were surprised to find the snow to be boiler plate hard and not kickinable! Had to take to the steep grassy and hard ground above the snow to avoid it. Carried on to Creag Pitridh and down it's north east ridge to make a fine circuit.
Family canoeing on Loch Insh
We had a lovely time yesterday with a local family who wanted to have a journey on Loch Insh and a little way up the Spey. We rafted their canoes so that there was no fear of anyone capsizing and the children could enjoy moving around at the front of the canoes. The weather was glorious!

Children having fun
On Tuesday we were biking in Glenmore forest, then yesterday we walked up the lovely path through forest to the Ciste carpark. Lots of huge ant nests around. Then we returned via the Allt Mor trail making a very pleasant circuit.
